چکیده

Microstructure showing the involvement of fine and coarse grains in soil skeleton is evaluated. Incremental loading tests using a stress-dependent permeameter are conducted on mixtures poorly graded sand nonplastic fines originating from tailings. The results compared with published data various It shown that increasing content 0% to 100%, components can be classified into four categories: no (<10% fines), partially involved (10%−35% cushioning effect surrounding (35%−40% constant (>40% fines). At same consolidation stress, void ratio, e, rapidly decreases for less than 30%, then almost remains between 30% 50% fines, gradually increases exceeding 50%. hydraulic conductivity, k, more 20-fold as 12% 50%, constant. k proportional [e 3 /(1 + e)] A inversely S 2 , where factor describing particle angularity specific surface. Finally, influence seepage-induced internal stability discussed.

Porosity and permeability in ternary sediment mixtures.

Permeability, k, and porosity, φ, were measured in mixtures of fine, medium, and coarse sand, where the volume fraction of each of the three components was systematically varied. The k was modeled well by the Kozeny-Carman equation for three-component mixtures by using a representative grain size parameter, d, computed by averaging the grain diameters of components recursively, with averaging m...

Compressibility and compactibility studies of chitosan, xanthan gum, and their mixtures

The compressibility and compactibility studies of binary mixtures containing chitosan (CS) and xanthan gum (XG) were highlighted in this article. The compressibility of the examined powders was studied according to Heckel and Gurnham equations. Results indicated that CS exhibits more ductile character than XG. Moreover, in this study percolation theory has been applied to the tensile strength o...

A compressibility and compactibility study of real tableting mixtures: the effect of granule particle size.

This study investigates the effect of particle size on the compression characteristics of wet- (fluid-bed granulation - FBG) and dry-granulated (slugging - DGS) tableting mixtures. Particle-size distribution, flowability, compressibility, using the Heckel and Walker model, compactibility and elastic recovery as well as friability and disintegration were determined and compared between the two p...

Estimation of Gas Mixture Compressibility Factor and Viscosity based on AI and Experimental DataEstimation of Gas Mixture Compressibility Factor and Viscosity based on AI and Experimental Data

Compressibility factor and viscosity of natural gasses are of great importance in petroleum and chemical engineering. To calculate the natural gas properties in the pipelines, storage systems and reservoirs, the exact values of gas compressibility factor and viscosity are required. A new method that allows accurate determination of compressibility factor and gas viscosity for all types of: swee...
